Flying horses play a drum

Delicately striking from their plane of flight downward

Resonating ground feet

Measuring the rhythm an individual heartbeat

Sound-struck ears pricked

To every change of pattern in the language of the herd

The hoof-driven drum spins

Effortlessly drawing the encompassing horizon

Action and reaction

Tuned to the needle of the synchronizing leader

Pricked through listening

Responsive to the meaning of the language of the herd

Standing horses fly the drum

Upturned, tautened by the overhanging sky supporting

Silently grounded feet

Steadily turning to beat of hooves unheard

Obedient
