The Fate of Frogs

"Kiss enough frogs," quote Marian, "and one of them is bound to turn into a prince."

The female frog

Unable to see

Itself in actuality

May deem itself, irrevocably

A Princess.

If so, she hops

From lily to pad

In search of any likely lad

Whose pale reflection in the pond

Resembles hers.

Alas, her kiss

However fond is

Doomed to fail because, you see,

The Prince whom she would have him be

Would not kiss frogs.
